Horses Healing Humans, Inc is offering an equine and arts themed summer camp in July and August for children of developmental ages 6-12. This is an inclusional program for typically developing children as well as those with special needs.
Activities include grooming, tacking, riding, games, trail rides, farm chores, hikes and expressive arts, culminating in a special horse-play theater presentation, art show and ice-cream social for parents and family at the end of the week.
All activities are adapted to suit the abilities of each participant. Medical clearance from the child’s primary care physician is required prior the start of camp. Campers gain invaluable experience learning how to care for a horse and develop confidence through establishing a relationship with our herd as well as through collaborations with their fellow campers. Campers are grouped 1:1 with trained volunteers according to their age, needs, and level of experience.
Volunteers age 14 and up are welcome to train to assist with camp. (Please contact Kristin LeClair: email@example.com) Camp staff are specially trained in equine assisted therapy and are led by PATH Int’l Certified Instructors, Red Cross Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
To avoid food allergies, campers are asked to bring lunch and snacks daily. The camp day runs from 9AM -2PM Monday through Friday. A choice of 6 weeks are available. There is a limit of 6 campers per week. Early registration is recommended. The cost is $450/ week with a $100 deposit due by May 15 to reserve space.
