Ever wonder what an authentic paranormal investigation is like? Fortress of Nightmares at Newort's Fort Adams offers action packed ghost hunts for all. There may be real spirits in the tunnels of terror, so shut off those silly ghost hunting shows on television and experience it firsthand.

Highland Farm’s Trails to Terror in Wakefield will make your blood run cold on its spooky hayride. Also, get lost in the Forest of Fear 15-acre walk (or maybe you’ll be running). The Monsta Café has treats for those who survive the terror.

It is the last weekend for Frerich Farm’s Pumpkin Palooza in Warren. Round up the kids for family friendly activities including pumpkin painting, make your own scarecrow, pumpkin shaped wagon rides and plenty of hay to roll around in.

Experience nightmares at Spooky World Terror in Rhode Island. The three major attractions are the 3-D Festival of Fear; Devil’s Playground, a corn maze stroll that goes terribly wrong when you enter a cemetery; and Darkness Falls, a pitch black adventure through a house with angry inhabitants.

Explore the eerie past of Historic Kingston Village at The Haunts of Little Rest Hill starting at the jail yard and ending in the Old Washington County Jail. A guided lamp lit tour of the village will give you chills as you embark on several colonial landmarks with frightening history.

With Halloween creeping up faster than you can say “trick or treat,” now is the perfect time for Providence Ghost Tours. After extensive research, the ghost tour team found murders, accidents, fires and more that all took place right in Providence. The tour takes you to the spots of these morbid happenings for a night of history, scary stories, and spooky fun.

On Friday and Saturday at Theatre 82 in Cranston, watch the Musical Zombedy Menace of the Morgue for the ideal combination of Halloween spookiness and the rolling in your seat humor. The farfetched zombie and human love story has drugs, gore, lust and weird science – something for everyone!

Creepy, Crawly Family Fun Weekend kicks off at the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium at Roger Williams Park for people of all ages. With an assortment of things to do ranging from Family Cemetery tours to a planetarium show, there is sure to be entertainment all weekend long. If you are a costumed visitor, enjoy free entry.

Friday

Party it up at the Contemporary Theater Masquerade Gala at the Towers in Narragansett, offering raffle prizes (the not so lame kind), Land and Seafood by Kabuki, a full bar, live music, and a 50/50 raffle. To top it all off, attendees will be decked out in masquerade-esque costume.

Saturday

Are you a holiday parade junkie? Do those people even exist? If so, this year is the first Newport Storm Boo-ery Halloween Parade. As expected, the parade will feature Halloween themed floats and Halloween spirited participants. As an on looker you will receive candy as the parade passes by.

The 8th Annual Halloween Iron Pour is a unique industrial art performance at the Steel Yard in Providence. This event exposes viewers to the intriguing process of casting iron in ways that are not so traditional. Let your eyes spark as you watch sculptures and kinetic art pieces come alive in front of you. Enjoy cuisine from food vendors on site.

Wear pink, think pink, drink pink. For something not so Halloween, The Whiskey Republic is hosting Cocktails for a Cure to benefit The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation. Complimentary appetizers and pink champagne will be offered. Raffles, prizes, giveaways and discounted prices from participating vendors will also be a part of the celebration.

Painting and drinking combined into one event? Yes, at the Halloween Painting event at Pawtucket's Paint and Vino you will be handed a complimentary beverage of choice as you work on your next masterpiece in the studio. Wear a costume and win a free Paint and Vino class!

Pinkies up! The Johnson and Wales University Culinary Museum holds The International House of Rhode Island Fiftieth Anniversary Gala with a top-notch dinner and music to keep the festivities spirited. Help celebrate 50 years with class.

With over 20 food trucks, The 2nd Annual Food Truck Festival at the Newport Yachting Center has enough food to please any taste bud. Stuff your belly as you take in the live entertainment, children’s activities and, of course, the beer and wine.

Sunday

We can see into your destiny. The All Hallows Eve Psychic Fair at Roger Williams Park Casino is comprised of 25 readers, 8 seminars, 20 vendors and food trucks. Your future could be revealed or you could just buy cool stuff and eat the food from the trucks; either way it will be a psychedelic time.

Dueling food truck festivals? At the Food Truck Bash at the Skating Rink in Downtown Providence, buy a ticket and eat your way through the collection of food trucks, then vote for your favorite with the help of local celebrity judges. A beer garden, live exhibitors, and a bouncy house (for pre-eating fun) will also be present .

The Horribles Parade is a not so horrible event for the weekend. The Village of Wickford hosts its annual parade for all. Come in costume and treat the kids to some sweets and fun with a storytelling by Maria Day Hyde.
